Hi all,

 

I found this forum whilst browsing hunting with a dachshund on the internet so thought I would say hello to some like minded people :smile:

 

I'm British, originally from the North East of England (Newcastle) but now live and work in Oslo, Norway. I have grown up in the UK with hunting for small game with a shotgun but moved into larger game with rifles when I moved to Norway 10 years ago. In Norway I am a member of the local hunting club and hunt mostly roe deer with a dog and moose. I frequently travel back to the UK to hunt with my brother where we hunt for roe deer in the North East and muntjac in Southern England.

 

I have hunted in Sweden several times for wild boar and also for birds (toppjakt) and I'm planning on hunting there a lot more in the future :biggrin:

I have a 9 month old short haired dachshund (tax) who I'm currently training up to hunt roe deer, it's going ok so far and we've hade some good chases so looking forward to see how he performs in the autumn this year and hopefully we will get a chance to shoot a roe deer over him.

I look forward to following this forum and will look for some hunting opportunuities in Sweden in the future.

    Thank youfor the reply MKJ.

     

    Regarding the dog, he's doing ok so far but due to the snow over here at the moment training is on hold until conditions improve. We now have wolves in our hunting terrain so it will be interesting to see how it effects things this year! :ohmy: I'm a bit nervous though regarding my dog so think I will travel to another area away from the wolves to train him.

    It can not be easy being married to a Norwegian these days when they have setbacks in cross country track in the Olympics. 
    Really good neighborliness between Norway and Sweden. :laugh:  :laugh:  :laugh:

    Well... my wife seems mostly embarressed by the way the Norwegians blames the skipreparingteam, when the Swedes can loose a ski and still go for gold.

    I agree, it amazes me that they've been doing it for so long in all conditions but apparently they can't get the waxing/ ski preperation correct! :lol:
